GPS Settings for Clock In/Out in Swept+

Troubleshoot clock in error for your cleaners if they're unable to clock in.

What are the prerequisites for the GeoFence to work?

Location Services and Precise Location need to be turned on in the privacy settings of the user's smartphone. Precise Location is set specifically for the Swept app, a sub-feature of Location Services.

Why your cleaner is unable to clock in?

When a person logs in to a location, the app will begin attempting to connect to the GPS for the GeoFence. If the app cannot collect the GPS due to a technical reason (faulty device, issues with the GPS signal, coordinates being too old, the device moving too fast or the reported GPS accuracy being too low.) it will attempt for 60 seconds and Clock the user In/Out so they can pursue with their shift.

This error will occur under the following conditions:

  • Someone is trying to clock in/out of a location.

  • A mandatory GeoFence is set up.

  • Location Services have been enabled on the device.

  • Precise Location is turned off from the privacy settings of the Swept app.
  • WiFi and/or data are enabled.

  • The device has an issue with GPS, or a GPS connection cannot be made.

How to resolve this?

  1. Advise the user to Clock In/Out outside the building

Depending on the building and the location, sometimes GPS has a hard time connecting to satellites and receiving signals. If you are outside the building, it may increase the likelihood of a connection.

  2. Does the user have issues with connecting GPS on their device?

If the user's device has a faulty GPS, the coordinates are too old, the device is moving too fast, or the reported GPS accuracy is too low, this may cause issues.

  3. Users need to turn on Precise Location

Precise Location is a sub-feature located in the privacy settings of the user's smartphone specifically for the Swept app.
Below are links to the Android and Apple Help Centers that will help with enabling Precise Location:

  4. Disable Mandatory GeoFence for the individual Cleaner/Supervisor.

When Location Services is enabled and the error message keeps appearing, It is possible to disable GeoFence from the user's profile and keep an eye on the Offsite Clock In/Out Report for details.

How can I turn off Mandatory GeoFence for a specific user?

  • Access the Web app.
  • Click On Cleaner/Supervisor and select the edit pencil Icon to enter the profile details.
  • Scroll down the page to see the option Disable Mandatory GeoFence Clock In/Out. Select the radio button, which will turn blue.
  •  Click Save at the bottom of the page.

This way the cleaner can Clock In/Out from the location whether the Location Services is enabled or not.
